HISTORY

Legendary underground Los Angeles Heavy Rock Band, Sons of Toil, achieved a cult like underground following after a series of knockout live performances culminating in a sold out headlining performance at the famous Whisky-A-Go-Go in Los Angeles where everyone has played from Cream to Led Zeppelin, Van Halen to Guns n Roses.

Founded by Producer, Guitarist and Songwriter Mikey Capone, Lead vocalist Zane, and Bass player Antoine Sardo (Sceptor). Mikey Capone recruited former Black Sabbath, Heaven and Hell, Dio, WW III, (and currently) Last In Line drummer Vinny Appice known worldwide for his powerful drum work to play drums and they began rehearsing and recording songs. Vinny Produced a 4-song demo which was recorded at Pilsound studio in Northridge and Engineered by Jeff Pilson (Foreigner, Dokken).

When Vinny went on tour with Black Sabbath, Producer Mikey Capone went looking for a drummer and called long-time friend James Kottack, who was at the time drummer for the Scorpions. Kottack recommended his MIT student Ares Pagnamenta from Switzerland.

A fateful audition later at a warehouse in Los Angeles found a formidable combination of great songs and powerful musicianship evidenced by the recordings and by the lucky people who witness this band first hand and still talk about the bands songs and performance to this day.

These songs, along with the 4 songs previously recorded are used for the debut Album Produced by Mikey Capone, as well as creative one-of-a-kind merch will be released in 2024 will be available for the first time ever!

Long before Sons Of Toil went into Wonderland Studios in the Hollywood Hills, they had already rehearsed for 6 hours per day for 9 months before performing their first show and had Headlined the Legendary Sold Out show at the Whisky A Go Go in Hollywood, California.

It was because of such strong work ethic that by the time Sons Of Toil arrived at Wonderland Studios, they were already Local Legends and every song recorded at those sessions were recorded in a single take. No small feat for even the most polished bands.

Mikey Capone’s intricate guitar work was all done in one take with no overdubs (overdubs is the routine technique used to fix mistakes). The Rhythm guitars were recorded in one take and were recorded on double tracks and mixed together for an extra full sound and the lead guitar solos were each skillfully performed and recorded in one take (but not edited) to give a full sound.

Please explore the following pages with great expectation and interest and join the club to be part of something truly special!

“It’s about time someone Produced a great sounding Heavy Rock Album with elements of Classic Hard Rock, Alternative Rock and Progressive Heavy Metal with actual great songwriting, singing, musicianship and production that has a familiarity to it yet sounds fresh, new and exciting. This has a sprinkle of all your favorite rock bands in one place. There will not be a better Rock album released in 2024. Great job Mikey and Sons of Toil!”

TRIBUTE

WE WOULD LIKE TO TAKE A MOMENT AND ACKNOWLEDGE FORMER MEMBERS OF PREVIOUS BANDS THAT REALLY WERE PREVIOUS VERSIONS OF THE BAND THAT EVENTUALLY BECAME THE BAND SONS OF TOIL, WHO ARE NO LONGER WITH US.

DANGER DAVID “SPARKS” KOPOLOVIC

Dave, from Czechoslovakia was a truly incredible Drummer, Bandmate, Roommate, Road mate, Philosopher, Book worm, Artist and had great knowledge and many talents. The one I cherish the most was David was a true friend. I had the good fortune and rare pleasure to get to know Dave. He was a truly one-of-a-kind person who if there were more of would make for a more peaceful and wonderful world to share. Dave left behind his beautiful daughter Deva, his wife Kristin and many, many friends.

EDWARD PATRICK “BUTCH” BOLAN

Butch, as we called him was a incredible Bass player who reminded me a lot of Geezer Butler of Black Sabbath because his style of Performance. Although he was a sweet man with a good heart, being from New Jersey, Butch certainly had his demons and could at times be a tough dude and wouldn’t take crap from anyone. I seen him in a fight years ago and the whole band ended up in a huge brawl with 20-25 young men which started in the infamous “Band House” after one gig and carried out into the street. Butch was played with me, Zane and Sparks. He left behind 3 children and his wonderful wife Jennifer and is greatly missed.

SAM “SAMMY” GOLDSTEIN

Last but certainly not least was Sammy, a virtuoso guitarist whom we all were very fortunate to have played with. When the band’s other second guitarist Rick Burien left to pursue other interests, I set out to find Rick’s replacement. First place I go was Castle Music in Santa Barbara and there at the counter was Mark who was one of the guitar players in another band called Sixty-Nine and after talking for a brief moment I said we are looking for a guitar player and I asked Mark who the very best guitar player in town was because that’s what I was looking for. He, immediately said and without the slightest hesitation, “Sammy Goldstein” who is a guitar instructor but its not about if you want him in your band as is if he wants to be in your band. I though well excuse me! Mark still gave me Sammy’s phone number and I called him as soon as I got home. Sammy picked up the phone and I introduced myself and he immediately said “Hey are you the dude with the double Marshall Stacks” and I said yes that’s me and he said I would love to be in that band man (then hesitated) but I don’t even have an amp man.” I said no problem, you can use one of mine! Anyways with Sammy we really became a great band with twin lead guitar players and I really learned a lot from Sammy and we played a lot of gigs together and I was greatly influenced by his unique style. Sammy was a sweet man, very philosophical and always was with a beautiful woman. He is dearly missed by all who knew him.

MAY YOU ALL REST IN PEACE
