MICHAEL MANCHILD
Michael Manchild, at age three watched the Ed Sullivan Show and a little band called The Beatles really left an impression on young Michael. started playing guitar at age six when a family friend Faye Hansen, who was later murdered by one of her tenants, gave him his first guitar as a Christmas present. When Michael was about eleven, he met David Seville, a guitar player in Phoenix Arizona who taught him how to play basic guitar scales, the blues scale and more intricate Barr chords and how to learn to play songs by ear and basic blues Boogey Woogey.
In high school, Michael formed his first rock band Chrysalis, after the record label and they played covers by bands like Led Zeppelin and Thin Lizzy. At fourteen, he was shot while quail hunting by his step father. Manchild claims it was no accident. “There was no quail between me and that Piece of shit”.
At seventeen he joined Stonehenge, a rock cover band who was playing the big clubs and Bars. Michael’s mother divorced her husband after a firearm incident between his mother and step-father and the family had to split up so he took his mother to the airport to fly to Chicago, while his brother moved in with a high school friend and Michael moved to his grandparents home. A short time later he moved in with his girlfriend until they broke up. A few months after his eighteenth birthday, the broken hearted Manchild relocated to Santa Barbara California and reunited with his mother and brother who had recently relocated.
